Property Rights Meeting January 23rd: Real ID, Ozark Scenic Riverway, White River Blueway and More

The Property Rights Coalition will be meeting at ConnXtions Entertainment in Mountain Grove on January 23rd at 7pm. The group will be awarding US Congressmen Jason Smith and Billy Long, as well as Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder, with plaques expressing appreciation for these official’s efforts against the Department of the Interior’s White River Blueway designation.

“It’s nice to be able to thank elected officials for right action from time to time! The White River Blueway designation was so dangerous to private property rights and so hidden from the general public that we were very worried we wouldn’t be able to stop the Department of Interior. With the massive efforts of the real grass roots and the help of our County Commissioners and elected officials, we got that stopped” said Doreen Hannes of the PRC. She went on to explain that the fight to preserve private property rights continues at full scale, “Now we have to stop the National Park Service from holding the Ozark Scenic Riverway hostage from the citizens.” Hannes said the group will be discussing the OSNR new rules at the meeting on the 23rd as well.

The meeting is going to cover several topics including a quick overview of the White River Blueway and the OSNR as well as new issues in the Missouri legislature and the continued implementation of the federal Real ID program against Missouri State law.

There will be a very noteworthy speaker on the Real Id program. That speaker is Kaye Beach of Oklahoma. Kaye Beach has been involved in a very protracted lawsuit against the implementation of Real ID for several years. She will cover why people should have concern with the program and her experiences in the course of her lawsuit.

“In my mind, the issue of the implementation of Real ID, in total violation of Missouri law, is the biggest issue we currently face,” says Bob Parker, co chair with Hannes of the PRC. “Frankly, when State agencies won’t follow State law and there are no consequences involved, we have to wonder what we can do besides flatly refuse. We have a law against this in Missouri, and that law is being broken every day with the blessing of the State. It’s maddening”

The meeting is open to the general public and will begin at 7pm on Thursday January 23rd in the big meeting room at ConnXtion Entertainment Center on Business 60 in Mountain Grove. There is a restaurant that you are encouraged to visit before the meeting, and there will be an opportunity to place an order for food to be picked up after the meeting for those short on time.

Lt Governor Peter Kinder and Congressman Long have confirmed that they will be in attendance. At this time the groups hasn’t received confirmation from Representative Smith as to whether or not he will be able to attend.

(Since this was written, Jason Smith’s office has confirmed that he will attend!)
